Future Alumni Association teaches students about state funding, tuition dollars and other Laker randoms

Grand Valley State University received $2,365 per student for the 2011-12 school year from the State of Michigan, which is about half of the state average and only one-third of the amount given to schools such as Michigan Technological University, University of Michigan and Wayne State University. Many ask why this is, and Vice President for finance and administration Jim Bachmeier is out to answer that question. The Future Alumni Association hosted GVS[You], an event that is part of Laker for a Lifetime to spread GVSU spirit.

Food for the soul

As Grand Valley State University’s Kirkhof Center began to fill Friday with the sights and smells of soul food, lines of anxious faculty and students began to form. Enticed and encouraged by volunteers proclaiming “free food,” attendees began a journey into both history and culinary art that was open to all.
